Gold-Plated Sterling Silver Trinity Knot Celtic Pendant - 20mm (SP2208)
The Trinity knot, or triquetra, is among the most recognisable symbols to emerge from Scotland's Celtic heritage. Its three interlocking arcs form a continuous, unbroken line with no discernible start or end point, a quality that gave it associations of eternity and the indivisibility of threefold existence across Celtic cultures. The form appears carved into Pictish standing stones, worked into the metalwork of early Scottish craftsmen, and rendered with extraordinary refinement in the illuminated manuscripts produced in Scottish and Irish scriptoria. Rendered in a warm gold finish, the design connects to the longer tradition of gold and gilt metalwork in Celtic decorative arts, where the warmth of the metal gave symbolic as well as aesthetic weight to the forms it carried.
This pendant presents the Trinity knot in a clean, open interpretation. Three gently pointed lobes extend outward from a central interlacing, their curves smooth and well-defined. A continuous enclosing arc passes behind the three lobes, binding the composition together and providing the characteristic circular outer profile. The strands are rounded in section with uninterrupted surfaces throughout. The piece is finished in gold plating over 925 sterling silver, the warm tone consistent across all surfaces. A high mirror polish gives strong light reflection across the raised strands. A smooth bail connects the pendant above.
At 20mm and approximately 0.9g, it is compact and lightweight. Gold-plated 925 sterling silver. Bail fitting.
