Sterling Silver & Amethyst Celtic Navette Drop Earrings - 22mm (SE1709)
The navette form has deep roots in Celtic metalwork, its elongated pointed silhouette appearing in brooch and pendant forms across Scotland's decorative heritage. As a drop earring format it provides a naturally elegant vertical line, the pointed upper and lower ends giving the piece a refined, tapered quality that catches and holds the eye. The combination of open knotwork within a navette frame with a coloured stone at the base reflects a long-established approach in Celtic jewellery design, the geometric interlace providing structured surface interest and the stone anchoring the composition with a focused point of colour.
Each earring presents an open navette frame whose border is worked in interlaced Celtic knotwork throughout, the strands looping and crossing continuously along both sides of the pointed oval with well-defined negative spaces between them. The interior of the frame is open, the knotwork border providing complexity without filling the space. At the lower pointed end, a pear-cut amethyst sits in a smooth bezel setting, its deep violet tone providing a rich focal point at the base of the drop. The stone is oriented with its pointed end downward, following the line of the navette. The silver throughout carries a high mirror polish. Fish hook fitting above.
Approximately 2.2g per pair. 925 sterling silver with pear-cut amethyst in bezel setting. Fish hook fitting.
