The Celtic knot is among the most enduring motifs in Scotland's decorative heritage, its defining characteristic the unbroken, continuous strand that carries associations of eternity and interconnection across centuries of Scottish and Celtic metalwork. This bracelet is constructed from a sequence of open oval knotwork links, each one enclosing a four-strand interlaced plaitwork composition within a smooth enclosing border. The strands weave over and under one another in a tight, symmetrical basketweave pattern that fills the interior of each link cleanly from edge to edge. The links are connected by small round jump rings that allow the bracelet to move and flex naturally with wear. Each link is finished to a high mirror polish throughout, the raised strands catching light against the open spaces between them with strong definition. Spring clasp fastening.
