Sterling Silver Charles Rennie Mackintosh Stem Brooch - 35mm (RMBP5364)
Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a gifted artist, designer, craftsman and architect, one of the defining figures of the Glasgow Style and the flowering of Art Nouveau in Scotland. As part of the celebrated group known as 'The Four', his influence on decorative arts remains unmatched.
This stem brooch, crafted in solid Sterling Silver, is the most fluid and organic piece in the brooch range. A single sweeping line curves from a blunt top down to a delicate point at the base, enclosing an open teardrop form within which a stylised rose sits in detailed relief; circular, precise and beautifully resolved against the flowing outer frame. The contrast between the bold, unbroken outer curve and the intricate rose within gives the piece a quiet drama.
At 35mm tall it wears with an understated elegance quite unlike the more structured pieces in the range. Fastened with a dependable pin fitting.
35mm x 14mm, weight 3.5g.
