Sterling Silver Claddagh Key Celtic Pendant - 22mm (SP2209)
The Claddagh is one of the most enduring symbols to emerge from the Celtic tradition shared across Scotland and Ireland, its three-part form carrying a layered meaning that has remained legible for centuries. The two hands presenting a crowned heart represent friendship, loyalty and love respectively, a symbolism rooted in the close-knit coastal communities where the design originated. The key form has a long association with the same emotional vocabulary, the notion of holding or giving the key to one's heart a metaphor that sits naturally within the Claddagh's established meaning. Combining the two produces a piece that reads simultaneously as a symbol of Celtic heritage and a more personal, intimate gesture.
This pendant takes the form of a traditional skeleton key, with the Claddagh motif forming the bow at the top. Two modelled hands extend from either side of a circular ring, cradling a smooth domed heart at the centre, with a small decorative crown rising above it. The circular ring of the Claddagh forms the head of the key naturally. Below, a plain cylindrical shank descends to a simple two-toothed bit at the base. The silver throughout is finished to a high mirror polish. A smooth bail connects the pendant above.
At 22mm x 11mm and approximately 1.7g, it is slender and neatly proportioned. 925 sterling silver. Bail fitting.
