Sterling Silver Interlaced Celtic Knot Pendant - 16mm (SP2201)
The Celtic knot is among the most enduring motifs in Scotland's decorative heritage, appearing in illuminated manuscripts, carved Pictish stonework and the metalwork of early medieval craftsmen from the Northern Isles to the Borders. Its defining characteristic is the unbroken, continuous strand; a form read across Celtic Scotland as a symbol of eternity, interconnection and the cyclical nature of existence. The circular framing found in so many knotwork designs reflects the same cosmological thinking, where the circle represented wholeness without beginning or end.
This pendant presents a four-lobed interlaced knotwork motif enclosed within a smooth circular outer ring. Four rounded strands weave over and under one another in a tight, symmetrical pattern, the rhythm of the crossings creating a composition that is both geometrically precise and organically fluid. The strands are finished to a high mirror polish throughout, clean and well-defined, with strong light reflection across every raised surface. The enclosing ring holds the design with quiet authority, giving the piece a compact, self-contained presence.
At 16mm diameter and approximately 1.5g, it sits lightly and wears cleanly. 925 sterling silver. Bail fitting.
