Sterling Silver Scottish Lion Rampant Pendant - 14mm (SC1020)
The Lion Rampant is one of Scotland's most ancient and powerful heraldic symbols, its origins as a royal emblem dating to the twelfth century. Associated with the Scottish crown and appearing on the Royal Standard of Scotland, the lion rampant has been a symbol of national pride and sovereign authority for over eight hundred years. Its presence in Scottish decorative arts spans carved stonework, illuminated manuscripts and metalwork, and it remains one of the most immediately recognisable expressions of Scottish identity in the heraldic tradition. As a subject for silverwork it translates with natural authority into sculptural form, the dynamic, upright posture of the rampant lion lending the piece energy and presence at any scale.
This pendant presents the lion rampant as a three-dimensional sculpted form, the figure rendered in the classic heraldic posture with the body upright, the forelegs raised and clawed, and the tail curling upward behind. The surface carries engraved and modelled detail throughout, the mane, musculature and facial features all rendered with definition appropriate to the scale. The dynamic stance of the figure gives the piece a strong, directional silhouette that reads clearly even at small dimensions. The silver throughout carries a high mirror polish, with the engraved detail providing contrast against the smoother raised surfaces. A plain round ring fitting connects the pendant above.
At 14mm x 14mm and approximately 1.6g, it is compact and boldly detailed for its scale. 925 sterling silver. Ring fitting.
