Sterling Silver Scottish Sheep Pendant - 14mm (SC1025)
The sheep has been central to Scotland's rural landscape and economy for centuries, its presence woven into the fabric of highland and lowland life alike. From the drove roads of the Highlands to the rolling farmland of the Borders, sheep farming shaped Scotland's communities, its wool trade and its relationship with the land in ways that remain visible to this day. The Blackface and Cheviot breeds in particular are inseparable from the Scottish countryside, their stocky, sure-footed forms a constant presence across Scotland's hills and glens. As a subject for silverwork, the sheep translates naturally into a compact, sculptural form with an inherent charm and a strong connection to Scottish rural identity.
This pendant presents the sheep as a fully three-dimensional sculpted form, rendered in the round with careful attention to the animal's characteristic proportions. The fleece is represented throughout in engraved, textured lines that capture the dense, close-curled quality of the coat. The head is modelled with a smooth, rounded profile distinct from the textured body, its small rounded ears sitting neatly on either side. The body is solid and well-proportioned, standing squarely on four defined legs. The silver throughout carries a high mirror polish on the smoother surfaces, with the engraved fleece providing contrast. A plain round ring fitting connects the pendant above.
At 14mm x 10mm and approximately 2.6g, it is compact and solid for its scale. 925 sterling silver. Ring fitting.
