Sterling Silver Trinity Knot Celtic Pendant - 22mm (SP2115)
The Trinity knot, or triquetra, is among the most recognisable symbols to emerge from Scotland's Celtic heritage. Its three interlocking arcs form a continuous, unbroken line with no discernible start or end point, a quality that gave it associations of eternity and the indivisibility of threefold existence across Celtic cultures. The form appears carved into Pictish standing stones, worked into the metalwork of early Scottish craftsmen, and rendered with extraordinary refinement in the illuminated manuscripts produced in Scottish and Irish scriptoria. As a standalone pendant form it has a natural completeness, the three lobes and enclosing ring creating a self-contained composition of quiet geometric authority.
This pendant presents the Trinity knot in its classic form, scaled to make the most of the design's inherent structure. Three broad, pointed lobes extend outward from a central interlacing, each terminating in a clean upward point. A continuous enclosing ring passes behind the three lobes, binding the composition together and giving the piece its characteristic circular outer profile. The strands are rounded and substantial in section, their surfaces sweeping and uninterrupted. The silver throughout is finished to a high mirror polish. The combination of broad raised strands and open negative spaces between them gives the design strong visual definition and depth. A smooth bail connects the pendant above.
At 22mm x 20mm, it is a well-considered size with confident presence. 925 sterling silver. Bail fitting.
